I have pivoted on to something else many times in my own life. Everyone is different - but that worked for me! It kept things challenging and fresh. Along the way I learned first hand what it takes to accomplish things.
I’ve been there - planning how to go about accomplishing something that is daunting. I have had a diverse life. I have learned when to embrace change and just ‘go for it’, and when it’s best to just stay put and carry on. I am well aware that I get bored when doing stagnant and uninspiring things - and then it’s time to seek alternatives. With some endeavors though - ones that I was continuously passionate about - I have maintained an ongoing span of decades of dedication and endless curiosity.
I have been a lifelong musician - like my father and grandfather. I have worked on music production teams that created classic records for artists like Madonna, David Bowie, Jeff Beck, Cheap Trick & Mick Jagger. As a studio musician / producer / engineer, I have worked with Kate Pierson (B52’s), John Sebastian (Lovin’ Spoonful), Levon Helm & Rick Danko (The Band), Todd Rundgren, James Taylor, Dr. John, and many others.
I was a music producer on Saturday Night Live.
I have scored soundtracks for Hollywood movies, TV shows, done the opening theme music for ABC’s broadcast of the Olympic Games, and composed music for award winning documentaries.
I am also a 6th Dan (Rokudan) Shidoin in the martial art of Aikido - often referred to as the Art of Peace & Harmony. I have been training in the art for 31 years, and am a USAF instructor, the director of the children’s program at my Dojo, and teach classes each week at a new grade school that incorporates a reform model of Buddhist education for kids.
A few years ago when the music business imploded and royalties and indie labels took a turn for the worse, I embarked on a career in digital marketing, and became the Creative Director at a top New York agency.
I also campaigned and was elected to be a trustee on the Board of Education for the 2nd largest geographical school district in New York State, and subsequently voted unanimously by the board to be its President..
It’s all been challenging - and fun - and I have learned a lot. Much more than in a typical ‘life coaching’ course or program. It’s been real. Just like YOUR life.
And I must say - the term ‘Life Coaching’ makes me laugh too. I see ‘life coaches’ that often have not accomplished much of substance in their own lives. That’s kinda funny to me. What I am doing is quite different - I still do all my other stuff - that’s who I am - but in addition to that - I will also try to help you get to where YOU want to go. It’s not like I am leaning on some life coach program or course that gave me some certificate of completion - I am tapping into my own hands-on experiences in the real world of creative ventures - and can share what I learned first hand, and apply it to what you desired to accomplish.
At any moment while I am helping you, I also have multiple creative projects in motion myself - and I am up against the same challenges too. I have become confident that I can navigate through them.
You will too!
The unexpected can sometimes really happen!
